Creative Declares War On iPod

Postby phileysmiley » Fri Dec 24, 2004 11:01 pm

:yesnod: Having been in the music industry for 25 years, as a DJ and a record producer, my headphones are the most important thing to me other than the music itself. I use one kind for my Discman, another for my iPod, another for my stereo, another for the computer, and another for the TV. I have about 16 altogether. The ones I use for the computer are the best ones. They are Jensens. I also prefer the headphones for the computer, but since I just got awesome new speakers for the computer with a huge subwoofer, sometimes I like to blast the speakers. And I have 2 computers so I have 2 systems with 2 subwoofers. I also have the 6 speaker system for my DVD/HDTV/Stereo so I like that, too, although sometimes I use the headphones for that. They actually have new headphones that recreate the 5 channel sound, with sound that appears to come from sides, center, and back.

Those are the headphones that I had linked to that I just bouth. There are actually 3 speakers in each ear piece that project as the 5.1 surround. It is great, and it sounds absolutely amazing. It is really like you have eyes in the back of your head. It is amazing when youare playing games or watching movies like Saving Private Ryan. Great headphones, the only thing I don't like is that they don't have a MIC attached to them for TeamSpeak or anything like that, Ohh well.

No problem, they are well worth the buy. Especially with the control center there. It deciphers the 5:1 on its own instead of making the computer do it, therefore freeing up tons of resources! A good buy in my mind!

I have a surround sound system with my DVD/HDTV setup, so I know that all I have to do is plug them in there. That is in another room.

For the computer, I just got an Audigy2 ZS which I know is 5.1 capable, although my computer has 2.1 speakers plugged in. Here is my question: in order to get the 5.1 sound in the headphones, would I plug them directly into the front of the Tower where the Creative controls are (remote hookup, optical in, optical out, aux in and out, line in, mic in, etc. and there is a headphone jack) or do I plug them in where I plug in my headphones now, which is in a little pod that came with the 2.1 setup and has the subwoofer volume dial on it? I don't currently plug my headphones into the Creative control panel.

You'd actually have to plug it into the back of the computer, into the 3 line out ports on the sound card. :yesnod:

Exactly like Insane Scientist said. If you look at the other pictures for the product, it shows you all of the adaptors for the control box to the computer, dvd player, mp3 player, etc. You would just use the line out ports on your sound card, and then plug that into your control box, then your speakers that you have (the 2.1 system you were talking about) into the back of the control box as well. Then vwalla, you are all set up! :yesnod: ^*^

What does the back of your sound card look like?

EDIT: okay, here.
This is what your sound card should look like:

See the three ports nearest to the Firewire port? Those are the 3 line out ports. One is Front right and left, one is rear right and left, and the third is the center and sub.
