Best Video solution for AGP 4X Non-Pro?

Best Video solution for AGP 4X Non-Pro?

Hello all--

I am trying to rejuvenate an old 200 MHz Chaintech 7ATA mainboard. It has an 8MB card on it now, in a Universal slot, with 256MB of PC133 and a K6 700MHz proc.

I've recently benchmarked the FSB & the memory r/w with AIDA32, and the AMD scores bested this old CuMine 997MHz by a good bit with the same 256 Kingston RAM.

I'd like to use at least a 64MB AGP solution to see what kind of framerates I can get, then upgrade if it seems realistic to do so. I do much building and teching, so selling un-needed parts is a snap.

This will be a backup gaming PC for me & the SO.

Can't afford too much right now; want to save for a killer P4 system with heavy-duty GPU and much RAM. My only other PC presently is a Compaq 5000 series with PCI only....with the MX 400 GeF 2 I get from 5 to 15 FPS in Morrowind! (Just awful.) This HAS to do better than that!

Anyone have any ideas? Has anyone gotten decent performance from this MOBO? Please let me know!!

Thanks in advance,

Eric

From your other post I would think the ATI card your friend has would work why don't see if you can borrow it for a day or two to test it out and see how it works and go from there.
