Aida is a very good freeware program that a lot of folks here use. Try it.

Thanks to Bob I found out some interesting things. Two of my PCI slots have USB! cards in them, so all I have to do is switch one for a USB2 card. ^*^

Also found out that my hard drive is a Seagate Barracuda ATA IV 80021 80GB which isn't bad for two and a half years ago. I didn't know that ATA HD were made back then.

Ran a benchmark on my Pentium 4 1.90 and got 2349 Memory read and 1040 memory write. These were in the upper range so I am guessing that it isn't bad. Maybe I can put off changing my motherboard and CPU for awhile.

Bob thanks again bud for all your help, Ed. ^*^

You're welcome Ed. I have USB2 onboard my new motherboard, but I honestly can tell no difference in any of the hardware that I have plugged in, which would be my keyboard, printer, scanner, and joystick.

Well both my new printer and scanner call for USB 2. That is the only reason I am doing this. My scanner wasn't working properly and the printer was just too slow. Now that it is all tax deductible the money isn't as much of a problem as before. :yesnod:

Bob did you know that they made ATA hard drives that long ago?

I think it will make a big difference in external hds, cd roms, cameras, and flash drives.

IDE has been around for quite some time. ATA and IDE are really the same:
