Monitor Problem

Monitor Problem

Postby Dalsim » Fri Mar 19, 2004 10:16 pm

Well I just forked out about $500 for new equipment and one of the monitors I bought I think might have something wrong with it.

It is a Samsung SyncMaster 753DFX and it has a strange quality about it. The top of the screen it a bit bowed. You can view the image here

Do you think that it might be a defect?

Most CRT monitors have controls that can adjust the screen dimensions. Have you tried playing with those yet?

Yes. We have the SyncMasters where I use to work and I was very happy with them. Oh and the monitor is a Flat Screen, since I have never had one before I can not say if it is suppose to be there but I am guessing not.

I have been all through the monitor controls and can not find a thing to control Pincushion for the top of the screen.

Jeff it is really hard to see on the pic. Are you saying that there is phisical bent on the monitor or is the screen just not right?

I think it might actually be a problem with the monitor. The pincushion effect only happens on the top half of the screen and its effect decreases as you move towards the 1/2 way point and then it dissapears.

Sorry about the Pic. It is hard to take a photo of a Monoitor because of the refresh rate.

It is like a pincushion effect on the top half of the screen, as in the projected image. And it is only like that for half of the screen and the effect of it decreases as you move more towards the vertical centre of the screen and after you pass that it is no longer there.

If you have any doubt, I'd exchange it...especially since it's brand new.
