scandisk / chkdsk / eq....

Postby bike4ever » Tue Feb 12, 2002 6:27 am

XP-Pro and chkdsk Ok, I normally use the Tools->Error Checking button to do disk checking... Naturally it says it couldn't get exclusive acces to the drive and wants to do it during reboot, so ok. Also I found and ran chkdsk.exe from CMD. It did not say ANYTHING about exclusive access. It just started checking the disk (C: or D:). Does chkdsk work just as well as the GUI version? Is there any reason not to use it? Is there any reason it's better than the GIU equivelent?

They are the same. The one that's run at startup is the text version.
