Network Problems with Win XP

Postby eyeshades » Sun Jul 28, 2002 12:21 am

I have a small peer network with Win 98SE and win 2K machines.

I am using a Win 98Se as a data file server.

The network has been fine.

I am adding a new Win XP Pro machine. Although the file sharing seems to work fine with finding files on the Win 98SE machine, when I try to open files with applications such as Office XP and WordPerfect Office, the files open very slowly or hang. The same programs are opeing files just fine from the Win 2K machines.

Is this some local security parameter problem? I have seen comments about re-installing NetBeui on all machines to fix this sort of problem. I have seen a suggestion to remove some Printer and Scheduled Task keys from the registry.

Any comments?

Thanks for your help.
