Thanks guys. I first visited back in the 80's. It took 3 1/2 hours to get there then, so I only went a couple of times and didn't return until 1994. At that time, they had just finished the first segment of a new highway. It chopped about 45 minutes off the trip so it took about 2:45 that summer. Each succeeding summer another segment opened. Each one chopped another few minutes off the trip. After over 10 years of construction, it was finally just completed and the trip only takes 2 hours now. I can go all the way from my house to the main drag at the shore without a single traffic light.

Rehobeth is one of those beaches that has kept itself nice over the years, I used to visit there and OC frequently when I was younger - OC for the parties, Rehobeth to relax. It is certainly one of the nicer East coast beaches, although I had forgotten how dark the sand is there. Great pics Larry, thanks for sharing.

Thanks. When I used to go down there every week, my friend and I used to drive to OC every so often for the clubs. It's only about a half hour drive and it's awesome at night. The road is deserted and goes through salt marshes, and as soon as you get to OC all you see are huge T-shirt stores, hotels, and clubs. Rehoboth does have some great restaurants, the best in the state of Delaware and some of the best on the East Coast (they get chefs from Washington DC, Baltimore, Philadelphia, and New York in the summertime), and there are lots of bars, but no "clubs" or live music venues to speak of. They close at 1 AM too, so if you want to party you have to leave town.

Heh. Actually, no, I didn't buy anything. It was raining that day and the town and beaches were deserted (as you can see) and all the colors looked like they'd make for some great pics. At the height of the season on a sunny summer weekend, it's a sea of people.

Yes indeed the Cape May-Lewis Ferry ...About to take my driver test in afew week and been thinking to take my mom & sisiter to the shore. Not sure which as there many like Cape May, Wildwood, or Ocean City. Been already on AC afew time last year.

I love the Ferry. It's expensive and it takes a long time, but they have new boats which are very luxurious. They have a restaurant that's on several levels and nice bars (if you're into that sort of thing). You can sit inside or outside and, depending on the weather, it's so breathtaking.

I spent a summer in Ocean City and have been back many many times. I've also been to Cape May many times. Wildwood is another story. I doubt there is a Philadelphian who hasn't been there dozens of times. I first went there the summer of 1980, I believe, and have been back at least once every summer in the 25 years since then. Most Philadelphians have gone there every summer for their entire lives and that goes back generation after generation.

All 3 are about as different as you can get. I don't really have any Ocean City "stories" -- maybe one. I may only have one or two Cape May stories. But Wildwood? I've got thousands of Wildwood "stories." I also spent a summer in Avalon and another in Stone Harbor, although neither of them has a boardwalk and unless you actually have a place to stay, you can't spend any time there. They are more residential.

Wildwood isn't what it once was, and depending on who you talk to, it's either the best or worst town at the shore. But there is nothing like it in the world. Nothing.
