Oracle Software Question

Postby kanaloa on Wed Mar 05, 2003 9:38 am

Link to Trial
My boss at work is looking to transition from Windows to Linux and was wanting to know if the software at the link above would be free with the use of Linux, or if it was still just a trial.

Here is the main Downloads links from Oracle:
http://otn.oracle.com/software/products ... ntent.html

Basically I think he wants to know that if he moves to Linux, will he be able to use the software for free, or will he still have to purchase a license for it. We've assumed it would be free, and that the "trial" period only lasts for the time before the transition to Linux.

If you could help us we'd really appreciate it. If you have any specific questions, just let me know and I'll ask him about the specifics.

Thanks everyone.

Oracle...free... Ha. I wish. No, that will be just some trial crap...will probably not even have full functionality. It will have just enough so that you will want to purchase it...that is...until you see the price tag.

What does your boss need this database for, Small to Medium business? Then MySQL is your best choice. MySQL tends to fall apart when you submerge it into enterprise level database application, but works great for small to medium business.

Public Keys

The primary purpose of the DATA statement is to give names to constants; instead of referring to pi as 3.141592653589793 at every appearance, the variable PI can be given that value with a DATA statement and used instead of the longer form of the constant. This also simplifies modifying the program, should the value of pi change.
