This one fits my budget nicely at $130. PNY XLR8 GeForce 8800 GT Video Card - Performance Edition, 512MB GDDR3, PCI Express 2.0 as opposed to a similarly priced, and to my knowledge, similarly specced PNY VCG98512GXEB GeForce 9800 GT 512MB 256-bit GDDR3 PCI Express 2.0.

I'm not interested in either gaming or OC'ing, just folding. Which would give me a better bang for the buck? The reviews are good on both but sparse ATM. TIA for any insights or other recommendations.:)

Tigerdirect didn't want to accept an e-check from Paypal so I blew them off for the PNY 8800GT. I found an EVGA E-GEFORCE 9800GT 600MHZ 512MB 1.8GHZ 256BIT DDR3 2XDVI HDCP HDTV Out Video Card 512-P3-N971-TR that came out almost the same to the penny after taxes and S&H as compared to the PNY from Tiger.

I'll just have to wait a few days extra for shipping! I since noticed one difference between the two, is the RAMDAC. The PNY has duals as compared to the EVGA, whatever that means. I'll google it.:)

Glad you like it Graham. I've been reading up on this card a bit more and people are saying that it runs pretty hot. Anyways, I'll post back when I get it in a couple of weeks. I'm also hoping that my new 500W PSU will be able to handle it, after reading E to the X's thread.

I was reading about the "myths" on PSU's the other day at AnandTech and it made a lot of sense to me. Components are using way less power than they did a few years ago. There's actually some surprising test results all over the web about "dual rail" or "multiple rail" PSU's too, with considerable power loss due to the "splitting" of the rails.

Some quite handy component power usage tables in the AnandTech article :yesnod:
