Exactly right on that... scary stuff.

Jeanne also scares me... something about it make me think Hugo Hugo Hugo... even though it doesn't look like it'll get that strong, this season, I'm not calling off any bets.

MOBILE, Alabama -- Tropical storm force wind and rain from Hurricane Ivan hit the coasts of Alabama, Mississippi, Louisiana and the Florida Panhandle on Wednesday morning as the storm swirled across the eastern Gulf of Mexico with 135 mph winds.

Chad Myers, CNN meteorologist, said the center of Ivan may turn away from New Orleans and toward Mobile Bay. Even so, "New Orleans can't rest easy," he said.

If the storm hits Mobile as predicted, 12 blocks of the city's downtown, starting at the water's edge, will be under water, Myers said.

Forecasters think the hurricane may weaken slightly, but still could be a dangerous Category 3 storm (winds of 111-130 mph) when it hits land.

Currently, Ivan is a Category 4 (131-155 mph winds) on the Saffir-Simpson scale.

Ivan the Terrible returns...

Thank the lord it's not going to hit Louisiana... at New Orleans... it'd ALL be under water, LOL

They are lucky it weakened... had it hit land at Cat 5 strength... hell I don't even want to think about it.

It now looks as if four States are going to be directly affected by it. According to the latest weather report it's heading straight in and will move across four states running into Florida from the West.

This is the latest I have saw on Ivan. We are watching it close here . The wind is picking up a tad bit in Tennessee and the skies look wicked. http://www.newszoom.com/search/read/Iva ... 0257/2/02/

That looks bad Deborah, and the tailback of cars getting out of the danger zone is awesome. That many people having to leave their home for safety reasons is unbelievable. The logistics in trying to complete such an exodus of people must be frightening.

Yes it does Mac very bad . Smiles or should I call you Mr Mac? We live about ten minutes out of Nasville . The traffic is horrible . They have closed off parts of the interstate to help people from nearby states make it here safe . This is a very scary situation. I have been keeping close tabs with the net and the Weather Channel. It is a bad situation. I just pray everyone in nearby states will be safe :yesnod: Deborah

I hope so also Deborah. It is a frightening scenario, and all those folk will be worrying about their homes and if they are going back to any damage. On another note, it is my pleasure if you call me Mac. Everyone else does. :yesnod: ^*^

i just looked at that story deborah, and i think the picture is a little amusing, although it is a serious situation. the lane leaving is completely stacked with traffic (understandable, i would probably be in it too if i lived down there). but on the lane going towards the storm, there are like five vehicles, where are they going?

anyway, i hope everyone comes out ok and that ivan doesn't get to terrible down south.

Hummm ya know Imnuts you are right . I did not look at the picture until a second ago. Where could they be going LOL ??? Do ya think they could be surfers heading to ride the waves LOL  . But all in all aside from the picture ther is some pretty scary stuff there . Those people might be out of electricity for weeks or months . I just saw on the weather channel . And there is another tropical depression forming . That makes 12 very unusual I think .
