And as for storm names.... who knows. Many are weird. In the Pacific there are both John's and Keoni's though, LOL. Never over here though in the Atlanta, but in coming years there will be a Debby (2006) and a Dean (2007) though.

LOL, cool. :() :() :devil  :hippie:

Not sure why I left the Discussion about Alex out of this thread, but I did post on it...

Here's the thread on Hurricane Alex (Category 3 in late July/Early Aug):

Right on it's heals appeared to be Bonnie, but it fell apart... until today when it reformed into a Tropical Storm in the Gulf of Mexico. Not likely to become a Hurricane (though I think it could come close before landfall with winds over 60mph). Should make for a wet weekend in the South.

The bigger concern however is what will become TD, TS, and eventually (likely) Hurricane Charley, coming accross the south Carribean. NOAA flew a plane through it today and it was stronger than they thought it was

Here's another IR radar view of what will be Charley.

And another look at the Atlantic basin (can't see Bonnie):

Here's a view of both storms forming:

This is kinda early still.... very exciting for us weather nuts. ^*^ ^*^

This model seems to think something will form off the SC Coast too... but I think it's out of date.

You bet John. Rain like you have never seen in your life with thunderstorms and lightening, accompanied with flooding down in England.

I figured it would give you guys quite a storm.

It was the first storm to ever get that strong so far North... all the way to Cat. 3 stregth, 120mph+

I am excited about these new systems forming... I watch them like a hawk. I decided also to update my homepage at the end of the season, and keep the discussions here. Might be easier just to update in one spot, LOL

Funny you say about it being the first storm of its kind so far north. That was the point made in the news over here, that we have had unusually warm weather accompanying those storms, and that's not typical for us. Probably because this system came from the South, then that's been the reason.
