Odd occurrence with wireless mouse and keyboard

Odd occurrence with wireless mouse and keyboard

Postby yeshuas » Thu Sep 25, 2008 2:08 am

I started a system that I had moved in our move to our new apartment and had it running sitting on the dining room table.

This system has a Logitech wireless keyboard and mouse connected to it and since the mouse worked upon startup I assumed the keyboard had been automatically connected too.

I noticed strange things popping up on the screen like a menu to add things to the sidebar, and wondered what was going on.

Upon trying to type on the keyboard I realized that it had not connected so went through the steps to connect it.

The only thing I can imagine that was going on is that another IR signal like from the TV remote or my sons Wii was causing the weird menus popping up. LOL

I have similar problems but I have a logitech wireless mouse on server and have logitech wireless mouse and keyboard on wife's computer. Logitech mouse and keyboard on mine also.

When she is not in the office; I do not have issues.

I have considered going back to wired on both keyboard and mouse.

Since I enabled the keyboard I haven't seen the issue, have to wait and see if it does it again. At the other house I had it in the same room but the keyboard and everything was working though so only time will tell.

Usually, a wireless keyboard/mouse will use RF, not IR. And the only thing related to the Wii that uses IR is the Sensor Bar. There is an IR sensor in the Wiimote, but no transmitter :) It may have just been interference.
