nicksthegreat wrote:ok guys I will tell you the real reason why I put this post up,
My friend always uses Norton and is praising about it all the time and reccommending other not so frequent and less computer literate users to to try Norton.
His explanation is its flawless and that its gona be the same for everybody out there.
I have explained to him how NOD32 has worked for me in the past but there is not a reputable or known award that it has.
I tried pcworld's ranking and they has Bit defender as their Number 1, and NOD32 wasnt even in the list.
I was looking for a more stable answer supporting NOD32 over Norton.
Cheers for the posts guys but these links again were at the website and ofcourse every website is will say nothing but good about their product
1. Obviosly your friend hasnt' got the slightest clue about AV software I
really suggest that h/she go out and do some research. How can any
body compare Nortons against NOD32 sorry there is no comparison.
2. Flawless in what way ? Being a total hungry hog, detection rate better
than NOD32. C'mon I've even heard that the free version of Avast
is better than Nortons. Define to me the word Flawless.
3. Nonsense absolute garbage once again we are too lazy to research.
NOD32 is the only AV out there that has won MORE awards than any
other and these tests have been conducted and confirmed by the VB.
The VB is an independent testing lab and had been proven to provide
the most thorough testing of any independent lab out there. Def far
more than what Nortons has and I can rest assure that.

4. What are PC world just a magazine. Stop always being a sucker for
what others write. Magazines are magazines and they will also give
different feedback and opinions no matter what. I also read in one issue
of PC Worlds where they ranked 2/5 stars for NOD32's trojan detection.
What utter crap, NOD32's trojan detection is getting better and better
by the day, and though its purely and AV software and not an anti
trojan software, its detection rate for Trojans is better than alot of anti
trojan software out there.
5. If you want a more stable answer than you got it here:
And do you want to fine tune your NOD32 like a brand new V12 Ferrari well look here:
At the end of the day do your self a big favour. Stick with the best out there and I'm sure you know what I'm referring to and let your friend stick with Nortons. Lets see whose PC will be more vulnerable and slower as well.
