Beware of DD-WRT on Linksys
Linksys makes sure that their routers are easy to brick if you miss one step in the programming.
I have a BRAND new Linksys that is bricked and woudl make a GREAT paper weight.

Yeah, I used DD-WRT on a Linksys a few years ago and shortly after, it quit working.

The Cisco rep loaned me the Router I am using now, so I wouldn't put that Firmware on it anyway. He took my other router with him and hopefully they will be able to fix it, and meanwhile I will be trying to locate a Netopia. ^*^

A lot of that has to do with the hardware and the revision of the router(s). I know that the earliest versions/revisions of the models tend to be the most friendly with non-standard firmware for some reason. I guess they let the early adopters do what they want but screw everyone else.
