New version of Windows Defender

Postby phileysmiley on Thu Jul 13, 2006 10:24 pm

I have the little castle with the yellow exclamation in my tray, indicating something is up with Windows Defender. I click it, and the console pops up saying "A new version of Windows defender is available for download." I click the "Download" button, and it takes me to here:
http://www.microsoft.com/athome/securit ... fault.mspx

Which takes me to here:
http://www.microsoft.com/athome/securit ... fault.mspx

Which takes me to here:
http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/deta ... laylang=en

And as you can see, it still says 4/12/2006. What's up with that?

To me, it looks like the "covert" way of getting people to d/l the WGA plugin..................... BEFORE they get defender........

I didn't mind getting the WGA plugin myself, but I'm sure with the WGA situation still out there and people may balk at getting it, even being a "beta" OS and such.....
