New user of zone alarm.. questions about popups
Zone alarm keeps telling me that 'firefox wants to accept connections from the internet'.
Same happens with thunderbird.
I keep clicking 'deny', and apart from that, browsing & email seems normal.
My basic understanding of web browsing is that my browser makes an initial request (outgoing), then, an expected reply comes back, & that it isn't a 'normal' thing for the internet to initiate a conversation with the browser..?
What could be the reason for these popups from zonealarm?
I try and take steps to keep my pc clean - regular antivirus, scan regularly for ad & spyware, don't normally have a problem with infections & if they do arise I'm normally reasonably competent in discovering & removing them..
or have I got some setting switched on by mistake in the browser or something
Check the box named Always and then deny. That should do it.

Then ZA's popup would say "FF wants to connect to the internet" at which point you may have nasties.
