New adventure destination in Norway

Postby jagjag68 on Tue Mar 15, 2005 3:51 pm

Are there somebody who's been to North-Norway?
I found a totally new spot on the internet. It seems quite alright. Any other suggestions?

:view: Welcome to Varanger!

"Slartibartfast is a Magrathean, and a designer of planets, most notably the fjords found on the coast of Norway on planet Earth. Slartibartfast won an award for his coastal design. When Arthur Dent and Ford Prefect were on ancient Earth, they saw this award (and Slartibartfast's signature) deep inside a glacier in ancient Norway."

I have read about Norway, and someday hope to be lucky enought to visit. thanks for the info.

I think it must be related to my degree in Geology -- I've always been fascinated by the fjords and, of course, the glaciers which created them. Then there are the Vikings (no, not from Minnesota)... :roleeyes

Funny, I've never been to Varanger, but will be going there next week for a somewhat politically incorrect hunting trip... those cute furry creatures of the sea has invaded that fjord by the thousands I am told..

nice site, btw, did you make it?

Sorry to change the subject, but can you help me?

Postby dimpled_dandy on Mon Apr 25, 2005 11:53 pm

Hi,
I think I am talking to Alistair MacMillan, since your picture was on the website. Anyway, I know this is a strange place to ask about family history, but I saw your name and my heart skipped a beat because it sounded familiar. I'm wondering if you can help me. I'm looking for my ancestor, Alistair McMullin or MacMillan or MacMillian from back in the 1600s or 1700s. And I know we were from Scotland or the Isle of Man and possibly Ireland. Do you know anything about your family history? And if so, do you know of this name? I've hit a dead end at my ancestor named Alexander MacMillan or McMullin, and I'm trying to search further back. If you don't know anything about this, can you give me the name of any historical societies in Scotland that could help me. I am in Texas in the U.S. and have no idea where to look. Any info you could give me would be a God send. I hope you don't think I'm too wierd for using this forum for such a strange question. Thanks for your help. My email is xxxxxxxxxx
