Need to remove a Trojan Horse

Postby kenshin on Thu May 22, 2003 5:57 pm

Hi. My anti-virus program found a Trojan Horse...

c:\system volume information\_restore{#@#$@#}\RP234\A0072729.exe

but I can't find the darn folder or file.

Any clues on how to remove the darn file?

virus system restore

Postby bobseptic on Thu May 22, 2003 6:05 pm

when i get viruses in system restore, i just create new restore point and the go in disk cleanup and click on more options and the bottom one.
system volume info is hidden and i find the best way is to delete system restore points.

There might be better ways but this does the job nicely. hang around for more info.

I get my viruses from kazzalite, how nice :pc

or click on, my computer/tools/folder options/view & untick hide and protected operating system files + also tick show hidden files and folders and you can now see the folder in question.

First...do you know the name of the trojan...a search can be done if we have the name... :)

Before you do anything else...try downloading the trial version of Anti-Trojan...it's a good program...the trial last for 14 days...and that should take care of this for you.

If you want to view that folder. Try Control Panel>Folder Options>View>check view hidden files and folders.

That's the Restore folder...and the easy way to get rid of it is to just turn off the System Restore! You will lose all your restore points...but the "bad" file will go away!! Then turn System Restore back on and create another restore point and you're good to go!

I had the same problem with a trojan...it drove me crazy until I figured it out! Good Luck and let us know if it worked out for you!
