Need some basics on Design Patterns and UML
Hi,
Is there any good sites out there that will explain various Design Patterns when to use in a particular software solution?
Also a site on the fundamentals of UML developing when it comes to designing Framework for a Software Product?

By design pattern, I assume you are referring to patterns like the singleton, factory, and adapter. Your question is an excellent one, unfortunately I don't know of any decent sites off the top of my head.
FSGS turned up this: http://www.dofactory.com/Patterns/Patterns.aspx
As far as UML is concerned, there are many resources available. Two decent ones are:

The primary purpose of the DATA statement is to give names to constants; instead of referring to pi as 3.141592653589793 at every appearance, the variable PI can be given that value with a DATA statement and used instead of the longer form of the constant. This also simplifies modifying the program, should the value of pi change.

Any tools freely available to download to develop UML diagrams. Rational Rose is a pretty expensive to learning purpose. I do have Microsoft Visio 2003 it has the ability but just wondering if its powerful enuf like Rational Rose.
Any comments?

Doxygen is a great documentation suite that generates UML diagrams for small and large projects. It is used quite a bit in the classes I am taking.

I use SmartDraw when I need to create small UML diagrams.
