Need Help so I dont mess this up again....

Postby moyica » Wed Sep 05, 2007 3:22 am

Hi everyone,
After my first attemp I have decieded not to attempt this again without asking for help. I have 2 seperate sata hardrives on my sony. One has xp the other has vista. Both can boot up corretly individually. I have been manualy plugging in one or the other to boot. I am unsure of what to do first. Due to me royally screwing it up last time I'm not even attempting to try it again. Should I install the legacy or vista bootdriver? VBM says I have 3 OS, Vista Home, Vista Home Premium, and earlier version. Shouldnt it ony have two? Do I install the bootloader on just the Drive with Vista on it. This is what it shows in BCD Regisry setting when working on vista drive.
Default OS: Windows Vista (TM) Home Premium

Entry 1
----------------------------------------------------------------------------
Name: Microsoft Windows Vista
BCD ID: {39bd979c-59d4-11dc-aed2-b5e12fe5fe23}
Boot Drive: unknown
Windows Drive: unknown
System Bootloader: \Windows\system32\winload.exe
Windows Directory: \Windows

Entry 2
----------------------------------------------------------------------------
Name: Windows Vista (TM) Home Premium
BCD ID: {current}
Boot Drive: C:
Windows Drive: C:
System Bootloader: \Windows\system32\winload.exe
Windows Directory: \Windows

Entry 3
----------------------------------------------------------------------------
Name: Earlier Version of Windows
BCD ID: {ntldr}
Boot Drive: unknown
System Bootloader: \ntldr

I may be being over worried but I had a bad experince last time.
Thanks

Update: So far I've gotten vista to boot ok and I can swith to xp but it just diplays a black screen. Now What.
