Need advice on new laptop HDD
This is my laptop:
<a href="http://reviews.cnet.com/laptops/toshiba-satellite-a105-s2716/4505-3121_7-31660101.html" target="_blank">Toshiba A105-S2716</a>
This is my current HDD (which is broken):
<a href="http://www.yesbuy.net/fujitsu-hard-drive-mhv2100bh-100gb-2-5-inch-sata-notebook.html" target="_blank">Fujitsu MHV2100BH 5400RPM</a>
Here are some deals:

I'd prefer a larger capacity than the 100 I have now, preferably 160 or 250. Does it matter which one I get? I see some have different interfaces and speeds. Are they all interchangeable/compatible with my laptop?

I think wait for Jeff (NT50) or ar1stotle or someone with more laptop experience on the interface connections.
My recommendation would be a 7200 rpm 8 MB cache or 16 MB cache drive. This is probably the best there but it looks rather pricey http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.a ... 6822148307

Hmm...that's double my capacity, which is nice. I see that someone used it to replace the 4200RPM drive in their Toshiba so that sounds good. It's in stock, too.
(I paid $22.99 plus $45.49 shipping = $68.48 already for the HDD enclosure which I guess I don't need)

You should not need an enclosure unless you are goign to take your old drive and turn it into an external drive.
As for the drive, do what Graham linked you to, he is totally correct. You get the capacity you were wanting plus double your cache and up your speed. You should see a bid difference in the way your system runs when you install that drive.

The thing is, I already have an enclosure. I bought it in hopes I could use it to recover the files from the old HDD which appears to be failing. Assuming it's dead, I will now have an enclosure which I paid $68.48 for, with no HDD.

Thanks!

What kind of HDD enclosure did you get for that high priced shipping?
I got a USB laptop HDD all the way from China for $ 8.95 which included the shipping. Oh, by the way it came with Free Lead Paint.

I can do without the lead, though.
