In order to get XP to work now shoudl be simple. Follow the guide above about getting XP to work with Vista running.

I will do - but, as I say, not until it is not so important to me to have access to XP - on which I am relying quite a bit currently.

Sorry but my intention was to hold it for now. I have things I'm doing on the XP side that are vital and so I'm reluctant to do any further experimenting until they are off this computer.
After that - probably about a week - I can do further tests and report the results, if that would add to your problem solving base. if it would not, it's probably best to drop it.
