i don't know if it's on the mac at the TechDesk (work) specifically, or if it's on all releases of tiger, but i found something that is very disturbing in my mind on the dashboard. as you all know from reading this, there are widgets that are completely customizable. on our mac here at work, on of them is called hula girl, interesting right? well, i found the little configuration button, clicked it and looked at the options, you can choose the background and the hula figure. the thing i have an issue with, and i'm thinking others might be a little uneasy about is the one combination. there is a hula Jesus, which you can put on a Heaven background. anything seem wrong about that to anyone else, Hula Jesus in Heaven? the fact that they have hula Jesus upsets me a little, but having a Heaven background, of which you can put any of the other three hula characters in. anyone else see this causing controversy at some point in time?

i don't know if it's installed afterwards or if it's an included widget in the OS. it's the only Mac on campus i know of that has Tiger and I was away for a few days till i saw it, so in the 3 or 4 days, someone could have put it on there.

This is especially interesting to me for this reason. I just watched "Hawaii" the movie based of Mitchner's Book. If you've read it you know it talks about the missionaries going to Hawaii and how they ban the hula and such.

So the irony and strangeness of this really shocks me too.

considering that there are probably 2 or 3 people that use that mac that are students besides me, i don't think it is. and it wouldn't be any young kid either as all the students are 17+ here (that i know of) and most of the employees are 19+

mostly. the thing is, the main people at work that i could see installing something like that don't use the mac and probably have the slightest clue how to install stuff on a mac. I personally have no idea yet as to how you install new widgets. i'm giong into work on monday, so i might be able to ask the person who install Tiger where it came from as i think you can only install widgets if you have a .Mac account and they are installed automatically for you.

my friend got about twenty new widgets online, everything from hula jesus, to calorie counter. they look weird when you open all of them up...
