Introduction

When most consumers are considering a mouse they only care about being able to point and click. 2-button and 3-button mice are the standard for a majority of consumers. Logitech went the unconventional route with this new

I have this mouse and I love it :yesnod: I don't use either MSN or Yahoo! as Gaim is my mainstay, but while I was trying out Outlook 12 the email notification was quite handy (the glowing blue button is just awesome ). Hopefully, considering the number of people on the Logitech forums requesting support for notification support with other programs - namely Thunderbird and Gaim - they will either provide support in a future version of SetPoint or release an SDK, as they did with the G15 gaming keyboard.

However, Logitech really should have included some documentation on how to get these new features working - the help file mentions selecting the email and IM programs in SetPoint, but that option simply doesn't exist (planned for a future update perhaps?). Overall, though, I think the MX610 is great and will not mind the software flaws for now.

I'd like to just add that I am still using the same batterys that I started using the mouse with. That's some great battery life. Such a high point in my book :yesnod:

Now that interests me. I have never been a lover of wireless mice simply because of the battery issue. :yesnod:

The new generation of wireless/bluetooth mice are exceptional when it comes to battery life. I myself use a MS explorer for Bluetooth mouse

And I have been using the same betteries (AA) for two months now, and the battrey meter (software) still reads full. I will never go back to a wired mouse (unless of course I am gaming) ^*^

the technology of rechargable batteries has improved greatly in the past couple years, and with the advanced power management stuff that is being used in all battery products, things that used to only last a couple days with heavy use can now last weeks or months. I have an MX1000 wireless mouse and the batteries on that last about a month between recharges with heavy use, and I think that the newer revisions of the mouse can last even longer.

 Yah me too. I had a "new" mouse (2003 era) that went through batteries every 3 months or so. I jsut bought a wired mouse cause I was sick of it.

Okay I bought a trackball, but... if the battery life is that good, I will definitely consider this mouse for my next input device :)

I also use Outlook 12 (beta 2), but email notification is not working :( Can you tell me please if you needed some extra settings or it was working by default?
Outlook is running usually in the background, I get the notification in outlook's notification pane, but the mouse doesn't show anything... :(
