Lexmark Optra-S 1250 Laser Printer Networking

Postby McBlzr on Sat Oct 11, 2008 1:07 pm

I bought a Lexmark Optra-S 1250 Laser Printer (Black ink only). I got an ethernet plug in card for it. Does anybody know how to network this printer with the ethernet card directly thru my router (a Linksys)?

I can network it via the parallel printer cable thru one of my computers now, but I would like it to be a direct network printer. I have never tried anything like this before.

Ideas??????

If your router is set to DHCP, find out what IP address the router is giving to the printer and type that IP address into a web browser of a computer connected to that same router. You should be able to configure the printer settings from there and give the printer a static IP address. Once you have the printer set up through a static IP on your router, configure the printer on each network computer like this. The only exception to this example is instead of putting in the queue name of your printer in step 7, put in the IP address of your printer instead.

I have been printing to my networked laser printer like this for 6 years now.
