Well if you are gonna blame president Bush for the disaster than you better blame Mr. Clinton aswell since his administration cut fund of the levees as well.

Okay.

But this isn't about politics. And it's not about blame. I didn't blame Bush for anything so please don't misrepresent my words. I said that those who are saying that Bush had nothing to do with it are incorrect. That is what I said.

It's about what happened. Please don't turn this into a political debate. I didn't. And neither should anyone else.

Clinton can't fire Brown. Or change policy now.

This is about figuring out what went wrong so that it doesn't happen again.

I'm through commenting because what I said is being misread and misinterpreted. You're all so wrapped up in what you have to say that you are not following what I said.

I am saying exactly what Federal, State, and Local officials are saying, as well as the country. That we need to see what went wrong so that it doesn't happen again.

That's like me finding cereal dumped on the floor, and you saying there is no point in finding out who did it because it won't change it from having happened.

Okay, then let's just ignore everything and move on. If this happens again, we'll just take our chances.

As I'm seeing way too much misinformation here, I'd better stop watching it or my blood pressure will be on the rise.

Ok, why do Republicans take it as a personal attack on them when someone critices the president? I mean, give me a break... this thread (the last few posts are proof) that if Clinton was president you (Bob, and others) would have a field day playing the blame game on him.

Why in the hell does it make a difference if we have something bad to say about the President or not? It's a free country, and I think we deserve the right to speak out against what we see as failure to act on certain situations. If you take it personally, that's your own doing... not ours.

I'm sick and tired of people acting like we're blaming THEM for the problems of one government. The fact is, the government didn't respond fast enough in this catastrophy, and that's only the government's fault.

As a friend of mine at work today said, "Some people are getting awful angry about this... and it makes me wonder if they realize we've been right all along."

This has nothing to do with you or any other Bush supporter, but if it was Clinton, Gore, Regan, or anyone else in office right now... we'd have complained about them too. I don't give a rats a** whose in office... or who the administration is.

They messed up... period. If that makes you hot headed, so be it. But I definately don't mean anything negative towards you by it.

I'm a geographer, I know darn well the routes into that city... I even studied the urban geography of NO and other major cities. There is no excuse for not having air support... for not dropping more food. There is no excuse for not using boats in a HUGE coastal area. We didn't have to drive in to help... but for some odd reason, we seemingly choose that route.

I'm sure the fecal matter will hit the oscillating cooling device all over the political map. The Department of Homeland Security at least fell asleep at the switch. There were three full days of warnings and if it didn't hit NO, then you knew there was going to be devastation somewhere. It wasn't going away.

I am going to interject a comment here as I have been to a number of areas hit by the hurricane, I have participated in the relief, I have spoken to a number of people who were there, I have a number of family that lived in areas hit. What it comes down to is not the government, or any single organization. What it comes down to is people - whether it be people who are doing their job, or people that are volunteering - it is 'people' that will make the most difference. The kindness, the compassion, the caring for our fellow human beings - THAT is what is important. Sure, there will be plenty of people to point fingers and blame others, but right now the important thing is people helping people. Helping those in these areas to adapt, to get theit lives in order, to give comfort, to help, to offer a smile, a word of encouragement. To offer our houses, our time, our resources. To these people who have lost so much the acts of individual kindness will have a profound impact on their wellbeing. Yes, the government needs to supply money, food, material things - and while these people desperately need these things they also need something that the government cannot provide - Love, the love and caring of fellow human beings.
