When we were younger, light years before the internet age, the Star Wars adventures were just fictional tales that happened a long time ago in a galaxy far, far away. Now, thanks to LucasArts and Sony, you can get online and immerse yourself in a fully interactive turbulent galactic civil war of your own. This is the latest internet gaming experience, Star War Galaxies.
Launching throughout 2003, SWG will take the shape of a series of massively multi-player online games based on a new 3D engine - each involving many thousands of players worldwide assuming a character from a choice of eight species and over 30 professions.
Dedicated players who feel the force strongly enough can ultimately take on the role of a Jedi Knight. SWG includes nearly 200 unique creatures, including big names such as Boba Fett, and even Darth Vader is known to be out there somewhere. The galaxy begins with nine worlds from the films, each with over 15 square kilometers of explorable terrain.
The official site features regular updates, FAQs, screenshots, a thriving community of over-excited potential Jedi and a massive repository of information about the games.
