Recently switched to cable which recenly became avalible in my town, I used McAfee Internet Connection Speedometet. On the first test I got

File Size: 600.005 KB
Time Elapsed: 1.89 seconds
-------
Speed 2.48 Mbps
(317.46 KBps )

The old ISP was dsl, and if it was working right I could get up to 200 Kbps or so

my internet speed has a nice story to it.

I started with a normal T1 line, after upgrading from 56k and thanking god.:notworthy with the normal 1 meg conn. later my ISP experimented with a few customers lines and gave them 1.5 meg connctions. i thought this was great! a few months ago, i recieved an email from my ISP (Bell sympatico, Canada) notifying their customers that their T1 connceitons were now at an amazing 3 meg conncetion, the speed of the old T3 lines ^*^ ! i now enjoy downloading files at between 300 and 350 kb/s :yesnod: i pay $45 canadian for this connction, and never had a better investment[/u]

Hey, that's weird! Because I didn't even mention it in my post, but the exact same thing happened to me. :yesnod: I paid for cable at 1.5 meg. One day, I got an email from Comcast. It said, "turn off your modem, wait a few seconds, and turn it back on. When you do, your speed will be doubled. We are now at 3 meg. No extra charge." I was floored. I went to a speed test site and it was actually more than 3000K. :() And to think I was once on 56K (sorry, dialup people). ^*^

I've got 3.2 MB/s downstream, and 0.2 Mb/s upstream. I've got Cox High Speed Internet and I love it (even though they are a bit pricey; but it's worth it).
