Installed xp after Vista

Postby Trooper47 » Tue Mar 06, 2007 5:09 pm

Hellow

I'm kind of new in all this. And so i have i question.
I recently installed xp pro again on my pc, and i noticed i directly started up in xp, without having a dualbootmenu.

I cruized around on the net but couldent found a solution, then I came upon this program and forum.

This is the situation:

- Installed Windows vista Ultimate
- Later i installed windows Xp Pr SP2 because the internet via Lan wasent working on Vista.
- And now i directly start in xp.
- I have 1 Hd with 3 partitions. Vista installed on D:, Xp installed on C:, personal files on E:

I cant boot with the vistaDVD to repair because the setup freezes at the "windows is loading files screen".

I dll Vistabootpro 3.1 But it doesent seems to affect the situation.
Is there any solution for this problem without i have to reinstall vista ultimate.

If anybody has experience in this i would aprreciete the help.
Thanks

Can you please give us a screenshot of the Disk Management Console from XP so we can see what things look like in there? Also a shot from VBP would be helpful as well.

I had same problem and i found solution in this forum.

I used vistaPRO to repair boot and that solved a problem.

Search thru this forum and you will find solution.

Sorry, don't have link for you.

This is what i did:

1- started in XP
2- copied boot.ini, ntldr, ntdetect to BOTH HD, vista AND xp
3- started VistabootPRO in XP and repaired vista boot
4- run diagnostic in vistabootPRO
5- my XP entry was RED and i had to delete it and manually add legacy OS
make sure that you enter correct drive letter for XP

this will take you about 5 minutes and it does work.
