Are the files boot.ini, ntldr and NTDETECT.COM on the drive tagged (System) per disk management, together with the file bootmgr and the folder Boot? If not then copy and paste them there and then first try running a startup repair by booting to your Windows 7 DVD and at the Install now setup screen, select Repair your computer at the bottom left and then select Startup repair from the menu that appears.

Please i need help!
I've just installed Windows Vista x86 (yes i know, this thread speaks about Win XP, but i have not found a Vista one) in a partition of my HD.
In another partition it was installed Windows 7 RTM x64, my preferred OS.
Now, i cannot boot Win 7.
I tried to repair Win 7 boot with rescue tool of the dvd: now Windows 7 (repaired) appears in the boot menu, but when i try to select it (or F8) it says that error: <<File: \Windows\System32\winload.exe Status: 0xc0000428 Info: Windows cannot verify digital signature for this file.>>
I tried also this guide http://www.sevenforums.com/tutorials/20 ... ecord.html with those commands: bootsect /nt60 SYS ; bootsect /nt60 D: (Windows 7 drive); bootsect /nt60 D: /mbr . Operations successfully executed, but same error message.
I tried to repair Win 7 boot also with Vista Boot Pro from Win Vista, but the problem is the same...
I don't know what i can do....
Pleas help me! Thank you!

Sorry for my bad English...

Hi 4s8kalz,
Welcome to PROnetworks ^*^

You can try doing a repair using the Windows 7 DVD if you used the Vista DVD.
I have found that sometimes the Vista DVD wont repair Windows 7 properly.

Edit: incase you used the W7 DVD you might try running the repair again, sometimes it takes a few trys.

I had the [repaired] next to my Windows 7 RTM a few nights ago also. My experience was a bit diffrent than yours, after I chose the repaired drive it took awhile to finally get to the login screen, so I restarted the PC & chose the start normally choice & that worked fast & good.

From the sounds of what you are saying, if it was me, I would go into Vista & backup my Windows 7 data (drag & drop) then format & install W7 again on that same partition as on previously.

Is your Windows 7 x64 the RC build?

So I followed the steps, but I get hanged on the

"Press any key to boot from CD...."

A error DOES NOT appear, it just hangs there.... Not sure what is wrong with it.

And if I take out the CD, it just hangs there with a black screen and blinking the underline...

Anyone experiencing the same problem?

It could be that you need SATA drivers to be installed with the F6 Key during XP setup. Check the site of your motherboard or system manufacturer for them or post details (motherboard make and model or system make and model if it's an OEM system), of your system and we can help you find them.

MB: ASUS Socket 775 P5Q PRO
Hard Drive: SATA 640gb
OS: Win7 64-bit

The only way i can get back to the bootmenu is when I do a Win7 DVD Startup Recover, and when I did that....
I ended up with 2 choices:
-Windows 7
-ramdisk

I never had ramdisk lol...
but I can boot into Windows 7 fine, just seems like its just acting weird. I also updated my bios and I also made sure that everything is up to date.

Well done. I think first check in Disk Management to see see if you have a small System partition that is hidden and doesn't have a drive letter allocated and we'll take it from there.

yeah, I got set to D:, and I have a 20gb partition for the Windows XP install.

I see everything fine, its just that after I install it gets weird lol. Then I just repair then it goes back to normal, it won't install WIndows fully, it just installs the main setup and the basic files to get it running.

Sorry, and I appreciate you helping a newb like me lol.
