Ok Im pi$$ed
I have formated, deleted partitions, created partitions, Gparted, wiped out, zapped, bam boom, you name it.
Im stuck till futher notice.

What gets me is the files to boot XP are on the 200 meg hard drive. The installation just does not complete.

I have installed Win7 only and started the install of XP on partition 3 primary partition. Reboot and I dont even get the error. I get nothing. I do a repair and get the dreaded error, I repair again and Win7 starts. I reboot and reboot and nothing. I add the entry for XP and nothing.

I wiped out all partitions again. Insall Win7. Install XP (long format) and same thign. Thing time I repair and get the error. I repair again and nothing, I repair again nad nothing. So I hit that button on the computer that says you cant do nothign with no power you stupid computer.

Now that is how my day has went so far with no interent, internet, to laggging internet with a download speed of 25 kb/sec and a ping of 400 to 1750.

Wow, I am sorry for all the trouble you are having,

This may be a dumb question, but could there be something wrong with your XP disk?
Have you tried installing XP first?

I have used the disk in the past. It has no problems going through the pre-installation and coping the files over. It is just the first reboot. Can't get past the error or no error at all.

I am considering creating the partitions with GParted or Windows XP disk and then installing Win 7 to see if it creates the 200 meg partition.

I didn't fool with WHS enough myself. I don't guess it would be possible to set it up on like a RAid 5 array, but then how many normal households would have a Raid 5 or even a Raid 1 for that matter.

So how do you go about recovering from a failed HD with WHS?

WHS (at least in the Beta) did not support RAID [I don't think it did anyhow]........... Hopefully Jeff has backups - from my limited WHS beta experience, it would create a MINIMAL OS HDD partition of around 20GB and all remaining disk space was allocated as "STORAGE"

Kevin is correct.
It does all it RAID via software. It takes how many hard drives you have and puts them all together.
I tried to recover the system but it failed.
I ened up redoing hte complete system
As for backups, yes I have 3 backups.

Was the WHS system on the drive that crashed?

Hopefully you backups can be moved & survive the system reinstall ok

Starting from scratch would stink, I hope it worked out.
