IE7 keeps switching my homepage to MSN

This has happened to me intermittently, but not as consistently as is happening with you.

FWIW, I found the IE7 Beta 2 to be so buggy in general that I just uninstalled it in both XP x86 and XP x64 ...

I think you are experiencing a stability issue, and the reversion to the msn homepage may be some kind of self-repair feature.

I know that I'm thirsting for a new build, anyway (even though Opera 9 just RTM'd :yahoo: ) ...

Heh. Well that's the first time anyone said anything like that. But I suppose anything is possible. I wouldn't be surprised. I actually wouldn't even mind if it was the live.com page, but it's MSN. Yeecchh. :sick

One thing we know for sure is that IE7 does NOT behave the same way on x64 as x86 because it is a 32-bit app running on a 64-bit platform, not a true 64-bit app. That introduces all sorts of incompatibilities, as we have already proven.

That's likely all it is. It should improve when the next Beta comes out. I would revert back to IE6 (which I already did once before) except for the fact that I met face-to-face with the lead PM's and am working with them directly, so I'd rather not back out.

Well, there is no doubt that it's a 32-bit application. There is no IE7 specifically for x64 yet.

I just started up x64 where I have IE7 installed, and looked at task manager and it isn't showing up as running in the 32-bit emulation mode :no I also started the 32-bit IE according to the shortcut and it does start up in the emulation mode.

I'll post a screenshot of task manager with two different IE7's open, one 32 bit, the other 64 bit, and one is under the emulation mode, the other isn't, but I can't get to it ATM as I can't remote into my system.

Well, I ONLY have one version of IE7 and it is the only one running. What you are seeing there on my TM is IE7. I only downloaded and installed one, and it was the one specified for x64.

Yeah, I did too. From the IE7 Beta download page, I downloaded this file (direct download link), installed it and it gave me both the x64 and x86 version of IE7 to replace the 64 bit and 32 bit IE6 browsers that were installed with XP x64.
