IE PNG fix+css

IE PNG fix+css

Postby ChevinBrown » Wed Apr 04, 2007 10:33 pm

I've been trying to find a PNG fix for IE 6.

I've tried the iepngfix.htc--this works through css, but the css isn't valid.
I've tried the javascript, but this won't fix transparent png backgrounds in css...

Is there an alternate png fix that corrects background css images?

IE 6 or earlier versions does not support 24-bit transparency on png images.
One approach Is to use 8-bit PNG or you can also use a gif with a stroke the same color as the background.
There also some hacks and methods that you can find.
Please check here,here and here

Finally If the way you tested was working smoothly for you,there is way to bypass the W3C validation problem.
You can target IE with IE conditional comments.

Code: Select all
<if>
<link>
<endif>

This will feed an IE-only style sheet to IE. :-)

I just need a fix that is WC3 valid. I like the css one best, but I always get an error when validating.

unfortunately,as I said before,
i know the way so you can bypass the validation error but it is not allowed to me to show you the code.

so I can't do anything about that.
To be honest, I don't understand why in a code forum,
this Board deny the code posting but rules are rules :/

Could you explain the validation bypass error? (PM it to me, if you can)

Consider this: http://dean.edwards.name/IE7/

It will make transparent pngs work correctly and apply many css fixes. It all runs through a simple javascript file. It's amazing.
"Pencil and paper /n./: an archaic information storage and transmission device that works by depositing smears of graphite on bleached wood pulp. More recent developments in paper-based technology include improved `write-once' update devices which use tiny rolling heads similar to mouse balls to deposit colored pigment. All these devices require an operator skilled at so-called 'handwriting' technique."
