I've tried everything but i can't boot my XP with Windows Boot manager

Postby Fanatic » Wed Jan 31, 2007 1:32 pm

Hi people. A'm new here, and maybe someone already posted this question but I couldn't find it.

Now i have big problem, let me begin the story :roleeyes
At first i had Xp and installed Vista, and it all worked fine. Then i screwed up my boot manger by installating XP on my friends HD, it changed my boot, and i was able to recover it with BootM.PRO
But then i decided to format my XP partition and install the new Windows XP SP2 Professional 2007, it all started doing bad. I've tried every thing, to repair my Vista with Vista DVD, Repair my XP with XP cd, repair it with FIXBOOT command, copied all the boot file in Vista and XP, and nonething, when i start boot manager and select XP, it show this:

error ntkrnlpa.exe
status: cannot verify the digital signature for thi file

And the only way I can boot XP is if I select in advanced boot options, disable driver signature enforcement. But then my Boot M. Pro wont fork.
It sais: XPExplorerBar_nat.dll not found
Can't find native library ! Please install the native library to your local directory or to yout system32 directory

Thanks in advance

Look for the following files ( after you have selected to unhide protected system files from Tools-> Folder Options -> View ) :

boot.ini , ntoskrnl.exe and autoexec.bat.

Post here boot.ini contents and we will continue the discussion.

This is my boot.ini
[boot loader]
timeout=30
default=multi(0)disk(0)rdisk(0)partition(1)\WINDOWS
[operating systems]
multi(0)disk(0)rdisk(0)partition(1)\WINDOWS="Microsoft Windows XP Professional" /noexecute=optin /fastdetect 0

As for AUTOEXEC, it sais it's 0 bites big. I supose thats the problem
And my ntoskrnl, wasn't located in root, it was in system32 dir. I copyied it now.

I have 2 hard discs, On the first I have 2 partitions and the second one is SATA and it has only one partition with Vista
And when i installeted XP, my SATA HD was named D: and my second partison on my fist HD was F:, so i changed my drive letters and now the STATA HD is E: and First HD has C: and D:

I hope this is what you'r looking for, cause i don't realy know whats the Disc Manager

You should avoid changing the drive letters of partitions containing Windows --- this can cause MAJOR issues

Looking at this again, these error messages appear to be something of a mish-mash from both XP and Vista, and are quite confusing.

On the positive side of things, it doesn't look like you have any truly serious partitioning errors, just a messed-up multiboot environment.

Personally, I would clean up the boot environment by reinstalling XP -- that is, by booting from the CD, formatting your C: drive, and installing a 100% fresh copy.

Once you have a clean copy of your XP up and running, we can think about ways of getting the Vista boot capabilities back ;)
