I bought a used iBook G4 for testing

Hello everyone,

I bought a used (in good condition) iBook G4 A1056 so I don't say I have never used Mac before, this is step one before buying an expensive Mac laptop.

1- I didn't get any CD from the seller, what shall I do?
2- can I install windows or Linux on this laptop?
3- do you have useful links or advices for me since this is the first time I own a Mac?

thanks a lot

You can't install Windows because the processor in your laptop (G4) isn't an intel one.

There are some Linux distros for PPC processors.

What OS X version is your Mac?

The iBook is a PPC and not Intel.

I believe that this Linux (YellowDogLinux) will install on PPC architecture. I'd be careful though, especially since you don't have the Mac Reinstall CD's.

I know that you can get all the updates up to the latest Tiger on there from Apples update program
But you don't get the newest OS X - Leopard
