This is a very bad situation for the Yucatan Peninsula, this could be a very catastrophic situation for them with the storm expected to stall out basically on top of the Yucatan area. They will experience extreme Hurricane conditions for what will be at least a 24hr period. They may not recover fully from this imminent impact for a decade. This is all of course good news for Florida though since Wilma will be at a weakened state when it gets to Florida but it will still be a very strong storm by then but maybe not a major Hurricane. This of course is all at the cost of the well being of the Yucatan and the resort areas there.
