Well, you guys - you have helped me before. Some time ago I got me a new HP Media Center PC. Everything worked fine, including the HP Personal Media Drive (320 gb). Last week I put a new sound card in the pc, and ever since Windows hasn't been able to find the Media drive, when it's docked in the cabinet. When I connect it using usb, windows recognize it at once. When I have the drive docked, the lights light up as they should - but no drive is visible.

I'm running Vista Home Premium and Windows XP Pro (dual boot) - same problem in XP. I have tried to open the pc once again to check, if any wires gone loose as I installed the sound card, but everything seems connected. Maybe I should remove the sound card (Sound Blaster Xfi Music) and see, if the media drive pops up again - or what do you think?

I've tried to push the media drive as much as I could inside the docking station, but the result remains the same. Any solutions? I would be most gratefull, once again... Bergy

Check in Disk Management (right click Computer>Manage) to see if it shows up. If it does but without a drive letter allocated, then allocate a drive letter by right clicking the drive symbol but take care not to select format if there is data on the drive you want to keep.

I've tried that as well. It doesn't show up in computer > manage, when it's docked in bay. With usb it shows up with drive letter L. I guess it's a hard ware problem. I think next step will be to see if it shows up again, if I remove the sound card. But I have to have this sound card installed for music production. Maybe I just have to accept wirering the hard disc. Thanks for trying. Bergy

Well, just to end this thread. Yesterday I opened the computer once again to look into the matter, and what did I find? A loose wire. Quess I didn't get it all wired up anyway, when I installed the sound card. Now the personal media drive shows, as it should. Sorry, that I bothered you with this. Bergy
