How to rid of dead hard drives

Postby Stryker762 » Mon Jan 30, 2006 7:47 pm

To completely erase all of the data, you can do a zero fill or low-level format f the drive. Most manufacturers have those tools free as DL's from their respective websites. As far as recycling goes, some towns have places where you can deposite old computer hardware for free. I would call your local township hall or city hall and find out if they provide computer disposal, or if they can reccommend someplace to go. Also look into used computer stores, where they refurbish. Sometimes they will dispose of this kind of stuff.

Try a Computer Recycle. They take all that computer stuff people dont want
and they make it into new parts. a good way to recycle :yesnod:

Scratch up the disk inside and then send it to a computer recycler.

Then I guess the HDD should be filled with some kind of junk data, like I dunno, a million copies of the same photo of Britney Spears/Paris Hilton or something :question
