How to remove 'dirty' flag from a HDD?

Postby Cornflake » Tue Mar 17, 2009 3:00 am

Hi all,

I just spent a painstaking hour and a half running chkdsk /f on my main 1TB hard disk, and upon reboot tried to defragment. Well I received the "Disk Defragmenter has detected that Chkdsk is scheduled to run onf the volume: C". I really would like to fix this, and figure out how to disable the dirty flag on my drive. A google search simply returned results where everyone was getting told to simply run chkdsk.

- Thanks

Try booting to safe mode and running disk defragmenter. Also, from the command prompt, try running tskill /A which should end processes running under all scheduled tasks.
