How To Play Web Media (.webm) Files
There's a very good guide HERE
Following that guide, I downloaded WebM/VP8 DirectShow Filters, extracted the .zip file to a filter and then ran the executable, install_webmdshow.exe
Next I downloaded Xiph.org OGG Open Codecs, ran the executable opencodecs_0.85.17777.exe and then went to the .webm video file I had downloaded earlier, right clicked it, selected "Play with", made sure that "Always open with..." was checked and clicked OK.
This is a new file format to me and nothing I had installed would play it. After following the above guide I had no problem playing .webm videos in my player of choice...Real Player.
I believe that VLC Media Player will auto play them.

A new format eh? Do we really need a new one? *sigh*
