How to fix SMTP errors when using SBC Yahoo DSL

I use Outlook 2003 to check my e-mail and after I moved and started using SBC Yahoo DSL, I noticed that I couldn't send e-mails anymore. The problem is that SBC Yahoo DSL blocks port 25 (the default SMTP port) except for requests to their specific SMTP server.

There are 2 fixes for this (only one might work for you):

1. In Outlook, under account settings, change all of your SMTP servers (don't change the POP3 or IMAP server) to the SBC Yahoo DSL server (Find your server here). Also change "My outgoing SMTP server requires authentication" under the advanced settings, change it to "Log on using" and provide your SBC username (full e-mail address) and password. Keep all of the other settings the same.

2. Change your SMTP server ports to 2525 for all of your accounts. Many ISPs and e-mail providers realized that SBC and other ignorant companies would do this, so 2525 is provided by most to overcome this hurdle.
