I am considering a reinstall of the XP OS; client had system bogged down with trojans/virus/other malware and spyware. Got the junk removed, but IE6 is acting up; when you click on a link in a web page, sometimes nothing happens, or it opens a new window, where nothing happens. I quickfixed it so they can use the internet by using either Firefox or Slimbrowser. This system has SP2 but this did not fix the problem, as it was there prior to the SP2 install. I think it was a byproduct of all the malware.....

There is actually a dirt-easy method of reinstalling IE. Have Your XP Disk in the Drive.

Go to:

C:\Windows\INF\

And right-click and 'install' ie.inf. This is essentially performing a reinstall of IE.

Hope this quick trick helps

This way works better than the other way.

I could never get the other way to work.
