May the fourth be with you!!!

Of course, Independence Day celebrates the signing of the Declaration of Independence on July 4, 1776, which took place right here in my hometown of Philadelphia. They also wrote and signed the Constitution here.

Naturally, we have the biggest celebration in the country every year!

Now, why anyone would go to a fake Independence Hall *cough*Disney*cough* or a fake historical village *cough*Williamsburgh*cough* is beyond me when we have the real thing right here.

Here are some of the activities planned for here:

Every year, my friends, wife, and I go to an outdoor symphony for the fourth of July. We get to the amphitheater at about 4:30pm and start drinking (my favorite drink for this event is sangria), the orchestra starts at 8:00pm, the second to last song is The 1812 Overture and they fire 5 Howitzer cannons during the song, and then they have a fireworks show during the last song that lasts about 8 minutes. I swear it gets better every year.

We actually went to it on the 2nd because it was the show with the smallest audience. The audience on the 4th is usually too large to find a seat anywhere in the grass.
