Graphics War> What will you choose?

Postby xenogrug on Thu May 27, 2004 9:56 pm

It's blatenly obvious by now that the graphics markets are set to explode, with the entry of the new AGP cards due out now, and within a few months. Radeon, offering thier X800 Pro card, look good on paper, with a clock speed of 1000Mhz +, offering a total of 12-16 Pipelines, while Nvidia's GeForce 6800, out now at RRP US$495, is set to crunch at similar speeds, and make the current market tighten up, as the two major competitors are very evenly matched on the new products. With the new wav of graphics, and the new CineFX engine 3.0, the stage is set to see some of the most Photo-realistic images and textures ever seen before. I don't know about you guys, but I'm Excited......

ATI will always have my support since they always seem to be on top of the specs. But I think that ATI can totally dominate if it fixes it's software probs.

LOL, folks have been saying that for years. Me? I have returned 2 ATI cards because of problems, for me it's Nvidia all the way.
I like them so much, I bought a motherboard with the nForce chipset.
This is an old arguement though and posted here before.

Oooooh...Looks like Nvidia is in the lead. Honestly, I don't ever see me paying over $100.00 for a graphics card but you never know. I like nvidia mainly because I have one. I also like ATI but voted the other way. :whistle

I'm driven by the purchase price at the time. I have nvidia which seemed to have the mkt until Radeon came on the scene; that said I won't be buying another card until Longhorn ships and the specs are fully released.

In terms of support, Nvidia seems to chuck out drivers every other week whereas ATI have more longevity.

The last thing is Nvidia naming convention for their cards is really difficult to understand. e.g. MX420 is less powerful than a Geforce 3. I'd probably go for ATI as a protest vote.

I think Nvidia & Radeon seem to play hopscotch as to wich is the best video card on the market. The last I heard according to TomsHardware, Nvidea has the best card out though its at a whopping $500. That was about a month ago that I read that though so as far as I know Radeon has or soon will have a card that blows Nvidia's new card out of the water.

Well they tried they got close, but they just couldnt do it, and that was overclocked tweaked and the lot. nVidia is my choice, better performance and software, and for the High end Computer Graphics market, nVidia has much better workstation cards.

NVIDIA ALL THE WAY!!!!
If it moves, salut it.
If it dosn't move, pick it up.
And if you can't pick it up, paint it.
