<b><font size="4" color="darkred">August 15, 2005 - Challenge Day 11</font></b>

Here's the Day's image; rated as: Moderate
This is really more easy than moderate, but I thought I'd put this one in here for those who seemingly didn't want to guess at anything more than Easy.

Hi,

Re bonus round #2

I knew some of the answers but did not find the place. Could we answer just those questions we know(or want to guess) and skip the other ones without penalty?

BTW, which volcanic explosivity index, VEI, are you using? The first one I found has 0 - 8 levels and the second has 0 -10, I think. They were different enough to make me wonder. e.g. Mt. St. Helens, 1981, was rated as a 5; Tambora, 1815, was rated a 7; Yellowstone, no date, was rated an 8. Are these consistent with your VEI?

Yes, as long as they weren't answered you didn't loose any points. Only questions answered were counted ;)

Now that I have a better feel for what everyone will guess on vs not guess on... I know where to keep the Easy, Moderates, and Difficults.

The Bonuses will be the hardest from here on out most likely, but I'll go easier on the Difficults... the last few have been pretty tough for some folks. Most people don't even guess for them.

Today's was a good moderate I think... I'll go with a difficult tomorrow, but not as hard as prior.

Everyone got yesterdays... though for the first time since perhaps the start, our leader didn't compete. There is a dead heat for second place, and it's a toss up for third right now.

Here's the answer to yesterdays:
1.) London, England (UK)
2.) 2012 Olympic Games

Here's the Day's image; rated as: Difficult
Ok, this isn't super hard like some have been, but it's definitely not easy. But I gotta make you all earn the 5+ points somehow. Good luck.

I am looking for the following (worth 5 total points):
1.) Name of this city? (+2 points, -1 if wrong)
2.) What state or providence or district is this? (+1 points, -1 if wrong)
3.) What's famous about this place? (+1 points, -1 if wrong)
4.) On a scale of 1 to 9 (hint-hint) what risk do I take living here? (+1 points, -1 if wrong)

<b>Hints:</b>
-Living here would scare most people if they didn't know what I know
-This city isn't the largest around, but it's not far from the one that is
-At some point in my life, I'd considered living in that larger city denoted above

<b><font color="red" size="3">Updated - ANSWER:</font></b>
1.) Volcano, Hawaii
2.) Hawaii
3.) It's on the east flank of Kilauea
4.) The Volcanic Hazard Zone rating is a 3 out of 9 (1 being most dangerous)
