In one paragraph or less tell me why PC security is important for the average home user. Please PM me your answers. The 5 best responses will get a free one year subscription to NOD32 virus scan for 32 or 64 bit Windows. ^*^

Here are some responses I received. Everyone who submitted an answer received a copy of NOD32.

I personally belive that PC security is important for the average home user, because, If your machine becomes an uncontrolable spyware, virus zombie, you could be infecting your friends, relatives, and co worksers. Seceruity is also a big risk, I mean really, do you want a hacker looking at ALL of your data? I shure wouldnt. I think people arnt protected enough aginst the ever growing threat of Viruses and Spyware, and that these issues need to be taken seriously. The last and most important thing I belive that a home user should be worried about, is that a hacker uses your own PC for illeagel file storage, and you get blaimed for it. In conclusion, I believe PC security is VERY important for the average home user.

Home security is an important piece of the puzzle for home users. Most average users use the computer for file transfers, work at home, homework, going on the internet to change stocks, or view bank information. If we didn't have the security we have today we would have people going around "willy-nilly" stealing people's information. But luckly we have componys like Zone Labs, McAfee, Norton, and so on. Those are the few main componys I think of when I here "Security", "Virus", or "Trojan".

More and more people are accessing/providing important information online, such as banking, credit card purchases, etc. this leads to storing very important files on your pc e.g. receipts, the download of your latest software you bought online as a download and haven't backed up to dvd yet. This information needs to be kept from fraudsters, the way to do this? PC security, protection from viruses that can potentially corrupt important files, protection from spyware that may log any login/credit card details provided. Also, taking into account the oblivious nature of most home users, it becomes extremely important to have this added security so as not to make users paranoid of security risks to the extent of not enjoying the technology available, but so they can carry on their merry way not having to worry about these dangers.

Home security is vital for all users. The average home user may not see it as important but they couldn't be anymore wrong. Almost everyone that uses a computer has some type of vital information stored on it. This information, as obscure as it may be, may still be at risk in one way shape or form. Adding the use of internet, which is almost a guarantee for any computer user, puts this information into a position to be discovered and exploited by a vrius, spyware or a hacker. Being security conscience will help rpevent this information from being exploited. Using antivirus programs to prevent unauthorized access, a firewall to prevent explotation of known windows flaws and staying on top of software updates are the most vital security issues an average user must stay on top of. Without these safeguards credit card numbers, bank accounts, user logins and many other forms of information are left in the open and can be used to disrupt a persons way of life. Everyone, from home users, to system administrators must be prepared to protect their machines and their information.

We use computers for everything from banking and investing to shopping and communicating with others through email or chat programs. Although you may not consider your communications "top secret," you do not want strangers reading your email, using your computer to attack other systems, sending forged email from your computer, or reading personal information stored on your computer .

Security is vital to any home user. One may think, "Hey, why should I bother with security? I don't work with hackers or bad people, so why would anyone send me a virus or try to hack me?" That user is very vulnerable in today

I'm seriously wondering if it's because we've already managed to convince our membership that it's the best out there, so everyone went and bought it.
