Would they accept a photocopy? It seems really, really unlikely

France might not be so bad as long as you don't act like their idea of a typical arrogant American.

Would they settle for an Irish that always carries an emergency supply of Guinness? :whistle

A photocopy of your passport has all of your passport information on it and they can check with the local American embassy to make sure that the information is valid. Your passport has a passport number on it that can be cross-checked with the information on your passport to make sure it is you.

Like I said before, it may not be as good as a passport, but it is better than no identification at all.

Explained here.

I'd also like to see Japan sometime in the near future... ;) I plan to explore more of Polynesia first. Of course, in between there will be the trips to Europe I've promised Tash ;)

2. 1998 - Windsor, Canada
3. 2002 - Rio de Janiero, Brazil
4. 2004 - Rio de Janiero, Brazil during Carnival

I need to visit the Eastern hemisphere sometime...

I've been to Suisse, France (for about 4x) Germany and Austria (Which are all in the Alps)...although I hadn't my digicam with all vacations...

Germany has a whole different culture than France. If you like roman style buildings, France offers you more of those...

For the rest I can only say for sure that the Germans really love to drink beer :drink: :guzzle:

On my turn I would like to see the Western Hemisphere...well, maybe one day that will come...

You know, a lot of people told me bad stories when I was preparing to go to Paris, but I had the time of my life there.

It is a GORGEOUS city with great food, history, and art (I could move into the Musee D'Orsay :)). I'd like to someday visit France outside Paris, but who knows when that will happen.

I agree with several of you, if you just act respectfully, they will respect you in return.

The only problem I had was a metro ticket woman got snotty with me because I mis-pronounced Louvre... otherwise..sounds like a great trip!

Yup, great to test how hard your new car can... :whistle (And it's only 100 km away from here I guess..)

NOTE: Not all Autobahns are a speed limit free zone.

In France you need to pay 'Peage' for nearly every highway outside of Paris...
