Firefox Separate Process for each Tab?

Firefox Separate Process for each Tab?

Postby mnemonicj » Tue May 05, 2009 4:27 am

I know that Google Chrome has a different process running for each tab that is open in the browser, this is supposed to help increase speed of browsing and allow you to close one tab that has locked up without closing the whole browser, but has anyone heard of when Firefox is going to have this implemented? I thought I had heard Firefox 3.5 would have it, but I can't find any news on it. Anyone else have any ideas?

I think a separate process for each tab would also mean that each of the tabs could be displayed in a separate preview window on the Windows 7 taskbar, like IE8 already does.
