FilleZilla FTP Question

FilleZilla FTP Question

Postby gries818 » Sat Feb 17, 2007 4:39 am

Hey, I've been working on some technical aspects of my site (the server of course) when I releazied that my XAMPP page and my phpMyadmin page were open to anyone who wanted to access them. I fixed that but in the process noticed FileZilla. Seems to be pretty cool so far.

I've set it up, and success! I can log on to my "FTP server" from my localhost address.

But how do I log on if I'm not at localhost. I can't seem to log on with my no-ip.org address... not even my IP address works. The only way to log on is by using 127.0.0.1 or localhost.

Can I change this??? Anyone have any experience?

FileZilla also MIGHT (I don't think so from what I remember when I last used it for my experimenting) have a feature to block remote access so that someone else from the outside can't access it. You might want to check that out.

If you have a router, read on. Otherwise, never mind.

You might need to forward ports, etc to make sure that someone can get through a router if you have one. In case of dynamic IP address you will need to get that DUC Update client thing so that it changes your IP address each and every time it changes.

Yeah Filezilla has a block remote access feature
You have to make sure that it is enabled and the ports are open
