duel boot xp pro and vista extreme 64 bit

Postby richgrote on Tue Jun 09, 2009 12:15 pm

I have three hard drives. The first has been running XP pro. Second is for storing files and backup. I just put in the third new and loaded Vista Extreme 64 bit by changing the boot order to that drive in the bios.

Booted to Vista I installed "Vista Boot Pro" and ran it. Apon reboot I got to the boot selection screen that gave me the option to boot to either Vista or windows Xp.

Vista booted fine but XP gave me this message:

"Windows failed to start a recent software or hardware change might be the cause".

If I go into the bios and chance the hard drive boot order XP loads properly.

Please give me clear instructions as to how to fix this.

Check out this guide, most if not all of it will be applicable to your situation: unplugged-xp-drive-for-vista-setup-can-t-dual-boot-to-xp-t84455.html

Oh and just to be on the same track, it's Vista Ultimate you've installed right? Never heard of an extreme edition before.

Vista Extreme Edition is a modified and hacked version of Vista Ultimate Edition, and constitutes warez as it uses a product-key bypass, as well as installing hacked versions of other proprietary software.

PROnetworks does not support warez versions of Windows, nor any other pirated software.

I'm sorry richgrote, but we are unable to provide you with any further assistance with your problems, other than to encourage you to purchase legitimate software so as to avoid these unnecessary headaches.
